Week 27 - APRIL SHOWERS

YAHOO!!!! -I'm actually not late - I have caught up......
It's been a while since I've made any earrings & sitting and scribbling raindrops - this is what I came up with.
A very simple design - wire wrapping with these gorgeous little seed beads I picked up last weekend at a craft fair.
They are about 3 inches long from the bottom of the hook & when you move they catch the light like miniature suncatchers.

Week 26 - CELEBRATE DIFFERENT CULTURES

Another necklace for this week. I had lots of ideas for this one, but they all flew out the window with trying to catch up. I am happy to say - this one WILL bring me up to date and my next piece will actually be on time! YAHOO!!
This is a ceramic scarab that actually did come from Egypt. I have wrapped it "Eni" style with sterling wire and vintage seed beads. The rest of the piece is constructed with 22g. wire using dyed shell beads in green and in chocolate, also with some bronzey coloured (dyed) freshwater pearls & a few more of the seed beads.

Week 25 - GARDEN PARTY

This is another VERY late piece - I'm playing catch-up big time here!
Not much happening in the way of a garden - but we can live with "party".
My party piece started life with a coiled and beaten centrepiece to which I soldered 3 jumprings. The dangly bits are just simple wrapped loops with mini amethyst gem chips, dyed freshwater pearls and dyed mother of pearl sort of cube shapes. This is suspended on a very simple crochet chain which uses the mother of pearl as well. This necklace is much prettier in real life 'coz the colours just seem to glow. A bit hard to tell from a photo!

Week 24 - Sunrise

My piece for this week (which should have been last week) is a pendant using sterling silver & gold-filled wire.
I have also used a chunk of citrine and some tiny vintage seed beads.
This rather not small pendant is hanging on my very first spool knitted piece. I actually even managed to solder end-caps to the knitting without melting the wire.
I'm sorry about the lateness of this(& the quality of the picture), but I've been out of action since last week. Seems I have shingles across my right eyelid and I am having a major drama seeing & trying to concentrate. Hopefully things will be better next week!

Week 23 - Paradise.

Paradise = Heaven = Nirvana = Bliss!
The happy place in my head when all is right with my world - well, jewellery making anyway......
This week I attempted 2 new things for me and I'm as happy as a pig in mud - 'coz they both WORKED - more or less.
This piece - I've seen heaps of variations of & I believe there is a tute somewhere out there to do this - but I didn't have access to it so this is my take on a ladder pendant. It was actually supposed to be a "chakra" piece, but some dill (?) did it upside down! lol. It has been re-named to a rainbow instead!
I used 16 g for the frame & wrapped the crystals and little silver beads on with 26 g. silver wire.
The second thing I attempted ( spool knitting & soldering very fine wire without it disappearing into a puddle)will become part of next week's offering, when I work out which direction to head with it!
