WEEK 38

I'll be back a bit later to write about this piece - but for now I just needed to get it posted..........later 'gator....:^)
Argentium sterling silver & dichro :^)

OK - I'm back..
The theme for this week is "Ra, Egyptian God of Sun"
I actually managed to hit the theme this week - with a little bit of imagination :^)
The scarab was called Kherpi & was a sign of the sun god Ra. It was the symbol of the rising sun & it was believed to be reborn everyday.
A very stylized dichroic scarab suspended from egyptian spirals fashioned from 18g argentium silver. A light thumping with the hammer and just a touch of antiquing. Suspended from braided black leather.
I did discover something interesting this week - black patina for leadlighting works very well on silver. And it has an amazing shelf life!!
I found a bit in a bottle that is over 10 years old and it works a treat - PLUS, big bonus - no smell!!

Some of this week's glass work...

Just some of this week's glass :^)
Some for ebay, some maybe my picture trail albums.
Painting with precious metals again & the very last one is etched & hand-painted.

WEEK 37

Glass again.... Also doing double duty for eBay this week :^)
A free-form fused glass donut.
Wrapped with 19gauge sterling silver wire.
You can't really tell from the picture (you can IRL), but the wire is hammered where it forms the folded part of the lark's head loopy bit. It seems to give it more substance. Suspended on braided leather, finished off with coiled ends and a handmade "S" clasp in sterling.

This week's glass....

I actually had a productive week - this is only a small part of it :^)
Again some for eBay this week, some for the stockpile - I am going to re-do my picture trail albums over the next couple of weeks, so will need heaps of new pretties :^)

WEEK 36

This week a simple little pair of earrings from me.
The pattern for these was sent to me via an email from one of the online suppliers I occasionally buy from.
I got the urge to fiddle with some rings! LOL...
The pattern was without the dangly bits of colour, that was my contribution.
In real life the matsunos are much closer in colour to the little amethyst brios than what they appear here.

WEEK 35

Hey Charlie - You there??? What do you think???

This week my piece is using the Faerie Wings pendant from week 4.
A very good friend of mine wanted it made as a necklace of some description, so this is what I have come up with - I hope she likes it :^)
On black braided leather, the extended bail (I guess that's what you'd call it) is 16 gauge fine silver with balled up ends. This has been wrapped with quite a bit of 26 gauge sterling wire.
Hand coiled ends and a "S" clasp finish this off. This has been fairly heavily LOS'd to match the pendant. Some parts of the base wire have a real copper tinge which picks up the colour in the 4mm swaros pretty well. The coiling looks a bit wonky since I have spiraled around the leather - but it did start life even!! LOL...
a closer picture of the 'bail'.
