Week 35 - SOME ENCHANTED EVENING

This is not what I intended to do for this week - I had lots of grandiose ideas to start with, but reality is a whole different world!!
These earrings are a re-make of a similar idea I had some time ago. They were done for another reason and supposed to be to a certain price point, but I blew that one out of the water. Not that it really matters I s'pose, I think I'll keep them anyway - they look & feel really nice on.
Pretty basic stuff here - 18 gauge for the hoops, wrapped with 26 gauge & 4mm swaros. The dangly bits are tiny cable chain with 4mm round & 10mm oval amethysts.
So now (for the time being at least) I'm officially caught up...

Week 34 - ICE BREAKER

I am soooooooo late with this week and so off theme - it's beyond a joke.
My muse has gone on holidays or strike or something - so this week's piece is another copper piece.
This egyptian coiled bracelet is made with 1mm copper wire and a dyed blue quartz donut.
It looks really pretty in real life and sits very nicely. I think the blue of the stone works really quite well with the colour of the copper.
This piece has been waxed with Renaissance wax, so it will be really interesting to see how the colour holds up.

Week 33 - IN CELEBRATION OF LIFE

I had a major brain drain with this weeks theme.
Quite a few suggestions were put forward on CWJ - all pretty good ones, but it just didn't seem like that was where my head wanted to go this week.
I got to thinking about what makes up all living things. This is my attempt - the double helix (?) DNA strand.
I wove the beads onto two parallel strands of 16gauge silver, then spiralled it into the shape here. I have also used cherry quartz hearts and little brick shaped beads.
The colours in the photo are a bit off (darker than IRL), I just couldn't seem to get the balance right for some reason.

Week 32 - JEWELRY FOR WEE ONES

Jewelry for Wee Ones - hmmmmm - what to do?
This bangle came about sort of by accident. The last week or so I have been playing with different style copper bangles & this was one of them. It was meant to be adult-size, but a major miscalculation by yours truly and it turned out tiny! So it volunteered to be my piece for this week! lol
But that's OK - it will fit my 13 year old niece who has tiny little wrists. Hers are the same size as the 3 year old grandchild! Very petite...
The frame work for this bangle is 12 gauge copper - textured with a chasing hammer. I have then wrapped and looped 2 lengths of 18 gauge around that.
I am very pleased with how this turned out - albeit a bit tiny. It was a nice & quick, relatively simple piece to do.
