Week 22.

Before I go any further - I'd like to apologize for the standard of this picture.....I'll figure it out one day (maybe!). Also, this is way late (sorry) - but things just spiralled out of control this week!
This week the theme was "A home for jewelry when not being worn." I've had the idea for this piece for some time now and thought I HAVE to do this.
Basically all it is - a 12 gauge framework, wrapped with probably 1/2 of all the copper wire in the known universe. It weighs a ton!! I've used 21, 18 & 14 gauge copper. The wires are twisted, bent & tortured into position. I used a jig (first time ever) to do the loopy bits(where the earrings hang), so at least they all match.
Now at least I have a home for some of my earrings....

Week 21 - part one.

Well, finally back and have access to these pages again.
We had a gremlin last week, but I think it was actually my computer chucking a spaz attack, not here like I thought.
No matter - it's all sorted now, which is the main thing.
OK, on to this weeks entry.
Sometimes things just don't go as planned! I have about 5 pieces on the go (sort of) at the moment, and this was the best I could come up with. Nothing like this weeks theme in the slightest. Star Wars this is not !
Originally I made the centrepiece for a necklace a while ago. My niece's friend saw it & wanted to know could I change it to add some peridot crystals. No dramas - did that, plus earrings, plus hair comb, plus 4 bridesmaids - necklaces & matching earrings. To cut a long story short - off came the peridot bits & back on with CAB swaros. Oh well - them's the breaks!! The centrepiece is a 16g. sterling frame with freshwater pearls & CAB swaros wired into position.

Week 21 - second bit!

These are the pieces WITH the peridot crystals added.
The comb actually stayed the same - it was only the necklace and earrings that had to be re-made.
The pieces looked nice with the peridot crystals attached but they looked even nicer just with the clear AB & pearls.
I didn't manage to get a photo of the final finished necklace - so you'll just have to imagine the green gone!! The earrings to match this were just simply the 6mm bi-cone with the 8mm bi-cone pendant drop the same as the dangly bits on the bottom of the centrepiece.

Week 21 - final bit!

This is one of the bridesmaids necklaces that I made for Vanessa's wedding.
It is very simply swarovsky crystals & sterling silver beads, strung on tigertail with the aid of crimps.
There were earrings to match as well, which were single drops exactly the same as the centre of this necklace.

Week 20 - HAVE A HEART.

I honestly can't believe it's been 20 weeks already! That's an unbelievable amount of jewellery that's been made by everyone.
This is my piece for this week "have a heart".
I have all these neoprene necklaces I bought ages ago - so I decided to make a pendant to incorporate at least one of 'em.
The frame is made from 16 gauge sterling & given a bit of a bash to make it a bit more stable.
Using 28 g, I have wired on 4mm garnets, faceted black onyx & 3mm sterling beads. The jump rings at the top are also wired into position. The dangly bits at the bottom are finished off with some slightly larger garnets from my stash.
