Week 14 - A HINT OF WINTER

This week is the first in our new season of WINTER.
This is a pendant I created for a friend for her sister as a gift. It will be hung on a rather heavy silver choker length chain.
This piece is made "eni" style and I have used moonstones and freshwater pearls with sterling silver. I think this combination has that nice icy touch that evokes a wintry feeling.

SECRET SANTA. '05

Over on the CWJ forum, a whole bunch of us did the secret santa thingy. This necklace I made for Angie/weirdlywired.
I started with a wire wrapped labradorite donut (eni style) and then I fiddled and fluffed with labradorite and garnets in different shapes and sizes, plus some faceted crystal quartz I was saving for something special.
We were each asked what our favourite things were - style, stones etc. and when I read what Angie had written - this piece kinda made itself.
I really hope you get as much pleasure from wearing it as I did in the making.
This was way fun!

week 13 - SECOND THOUGHTS

This is my contribution to the final week of the Autumn session of our 4 seasons of jewellery.
The theme this week is second thoughts. It could not be more appropriate for this necklace. This was to be my piece for the week "Complementary Colours", but I couldn't make up my mind what to do with it after I had made the pendant section. So, not just second thoughts - but probably 3rd & 4th as well!
The framework for the pendant is hammered 16 gauge sterling wire. Then it is all connected with coiled 26 gauge. The beads are also wired on with the same 26 gauge silver wire. The pendant is hanging from a triple strand, simply strung necklace.
I have used Unakite beads in 3 different sizes, freshwater pearls, pink swarovsky crystals and peridot - beads & gemchips.
If I can manage to get a better picture in the new year - I will replace this one - it's pretty awful!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!

Week 12 - SIMPLE YET ELEGANT

A very "simple" idea this week, as I am flat strap getting orders done for Christmas.
The original earring design was from the most recent edition of step by step wire.
I have used 6mm glass cubes suspended from oval jump rings. I added the 4mm cubes at the top to give them a bit more length & also to dress them up a bit.
They look very "elegant" on.
They were a joy to make and I will be playing with this idea heaps more.

Week 11

The theme for this week is Native Spirit. I don't know that these really qualify - but they sort of have a tribal feel to them (lots of imagination here). These earrings are for an order, and at this time of year we go with what we can.
The spirals are 14 gauge S.S. wire beaten and hammered into submission, jump rings were then soldered into place.
The dangly bits are dyed howlite chips and little bricks, black onyx (agate?), bali silver spacers and 2mm & 3mm sterling beads. These earrings measure about 3 1/2" (9cm) from the bottom of the hook - so they're definately not for the faint-hearted! I hope you like 'em Jayd.

Week 10

Well here we are - week 10 already. This time has gone by so fast it's truly amazing.
This week the theme is "critters". I'm not even a tiny bit close to that! I've been flat strap trying to get orders & stuff done before Xmas. So this week I'm way off base. Not that I'm complaining - it's all good!
You can't really tell from this photo, but the lampworked bead in the centre of this necklace is actually quite pretty. Either side of the centre are 4 strands of single crochet with 3 different colours of freshwater pearls, 2 types of gemchips & white stick pearls. It's finished off at the back with a handmade "S" clasp.
